`I am not a Sangh worker'

NEW DELHI, FEB. 6. The BJP leader, Uma Bharti, has denied that she was ever associated with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh.

"I am not a Sangh worker, I have never been associated with the RSS. My father was a Communist," she said in an interview to a TV channel. "I am not a disciplined party worker and I will not do anything in which I don't have any conviction."

Ms. Bharti, who will start a `padayatra' from February 25 in Andhra Pradesh where 2,000 farmers have committed suicide, denied that she had ever sought votes in the name of Hindutva. "Check all your past recordings, I have never asked for votes in the name of Hindutva or Ayodhya.'' — UNI
