Six nabbed for Kolkata student's abduction
KOLKATA,
FEB. 6.
A day after the return of kidnapped college student Roma Jhawar, police today said it had arrested six persons, claiming they were directly related to the crime.
"During raids since last night and into this morning, we have been able to arrest six persons who had direct links with the abduction of Roma Jhawar," the IGP (Law and Order), Chayan Mukherjee, told a press conference here.
Mr. Mukherjee said that the six would be produced before the sub-divisional judicial magistrate's court at Salt Lake tomorrow.
"A few more" persons were expected to be nabbed in a couple of days, he added. The arrested persons, all in their 30s, have been identified by Jhawar. They were arrested after their statements corroborated with the one given by the rescued girl. A Maruti van used during the abduction, some mobile phones were recovered from them, Mr. Mukherjee said.
