NEW DELHI, FEB. 6. On Sunday when all the offices in Delhi remain closed and the demand for power gets reduced, Delhiites still had to reel under power crisis as loadshedding of 170 MW was done while the day's peak demand stood at 2,757 MW. Persistent problem of low frequency in the Northern Grid is reported to be the major reason behind the shortfall in electricity supply, while Delhi's three power generating units -- one 30 MW unit of Gas Turbine power plant and two units of 62.5 MW each of the Indraprastha power plant -- remained also shut. It is almost three weeks since these units were shut down due to "technical reasons". As a result, several localities in East, Outer and South Delhi had to face unscheduled power cuts during the day. The areas affected on Sunday included Sultanpuri, Shakarpur, Bindapur, Uttam Nagar, Mangolpuri, Jehangirpuri, Najafgarh, Dwarkapuri, Shahdara, Sangam Vihar, Ambedkar Nagar, Tughlakhabad, Jafarpur, Okhla, Karawal Nagar, Palam, Mahipalpur, Kalkaji, Ashok Vihar, Jamia, Ghonda, Nandnagri, Nangloi, Narela, Seelampur, Pappan Kalan, Bijwasan, Dilshad Garden, Nehru Place and IP Estate.
