VISAKHAPATNAM, FEB.6. A mob attacked a shop selling marble and other flooring material at Maddilapalem here on Sunday. A dispute over the land is cited to be reason. In the small hours on Sunday, some men came in two lorries and a bulldozer and destroyed the shop and the stocks. They also set up a board claiming ownership of the land. A boy staying in a hut there was forced into a van and dropped far from Maddilapalem. The Commissioner of Police, V.S.K. Kaumidi, said the culprits would be dealt with very sternly. He said the losses were being estimated.
Four cases booked
According to police, three people laid claim to the land adjacent to the shop run by Visweswara Rao. Four cases under sections relating to rioting, trespass, destruction of property and intimidation have been booked, based on complaints lodged by Visweswara Rao, Sannibabu, Srinivasa Reddy and G. Ramanayya. No arrests have been made so far.
