Crime Watch

Bank customer cheated

An unidentified person who approached a customer in a bank saying he would help in finding out soiled currency notes took away Rs. 22,000 by diverting the latter's attention at Nallakunta on Saturday. A resident of Shamshabad, T. Anandam came to Bank of Baroda Tilaknagar branch office and withdrew Rs.1,30,133. As he was counting the notes, the stranger approached him saying he would help in taking out soiled notes from currency bundles. He counted the money and returned the bundles. When Mr. Anandam counted the cash, it fell short of Rs. 23,000, the Nallakunta police said.

Trader robbed

in bus

A clothes merchant, Om Prakash, was robbed of 15 gold bangles worth Rs. 90,000 he was carrying in a bag while he was travelling in an RTC bus near Afzalgunj on Saturday. After alighting the bus, he found a hole beneath the bag, the Afzalgunj police said.

Thieves strike

at exhibition

Thieves stole Rs. 23,000 from the handbag of a housewife, Shyamala, when she along with her husband, G. Laxman Rao, went to the Industrial Exhibition at Nampally on Saturday. When they went into LG Company's stall, Mrs. Shyamala noticed a hole beneath the handbag and cash stolen, the Begumbazar police said.

Six held on betting charge

Six persons were arrested on the charge of indulging in a game of cards by betting money following a raid on Haridwar lodge at Koti by Task Force (East) officials on the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday. An amount of Rs. 33,000 was seized.

Advocate's house burgled

Offenders broke into the house of an advocate, Pramod Advani at SBH Colony of Agampura, and took away gold ornaments worth Rs. 50,000 on Friday night. The house owner along with his family members went out to attend a function on Friday and returned on Saturday. He found the lock of the main door broken and property stolen from the almirah, the Chaderghat police said.
