Think again

Sir, — The report "Doctors, engineers in queue for constable posts" (Feb. 7) exposes the difficulty faced by professionals in getting a job. To a large extent, the advent of self-financing colleges is responsible for this state of affairs. This is not to denigrate the post of constable, but are not these graduates over-qualified? Mushrooming colleges may be a goldmine for those who run them but they are not necessarily good for society in the long run.

P. Kannan,
Srivilliputtur, T.N.
