ERODE, FEB. 7. The Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Minister, P.C. Ramasamy, inaugurated a part-time PDS shop at Periyavattam village near Sennasamudram panchayat in Erode taluk on Sunday. He said that 343 family cards, now provided with ration items at Solakalipalayam, were transferred to this part-time shop. The Minister also laid the foundation for a road to the burial ground at Periyavattam at Rs. 3.50 lakhs, under the Sampoorna Gramin Yojana. He also laid the foundation for a compound wall at Rs. 5 lakhs at the Periyavattam Panchayat Middle School. He said that a road would be laid at Rs. 5 lakhs from Periyavattam to Noyyal. All damaged roads in Kodumudi, Modakurichi and other areas would be repaired, he added. The District Revenue Officer, K. Nagarajan, presided. The Project Officer of Erode District Rural Development Agency, R. Rajashree, the District Supply Officer, Velusamy, the Kodumudi Panchayat Union Chairperson, Chitra Thangavel, and the District Panchayat Councillor, P.M. Palanisamy, spoke.
