Six women of family commit suicide
By Our Special Correspondent
VISAKHAPATNAM,
FEB. 7.
Unable to bear the death of their father, five daughters of an agricultural labourer allegedly committed suicide by jumping into the sea, and their maternal aunt hanged herself at Pentakota in Payakaraopeta mandal of the district on Sunday night.
Pragada Appa Rao (58) was an agricultural labourer, having five daughters and three sons. The daughters were attached to their father, according to villagers, and this was said to be a reason for them not getting married.
The death of Appa Rao shocked his daughters. It was said that they wanted to consume pesticide in the house but were dissuaded by their mother.
The body of the youngest daughter is yet to be traced. The Superintendent of Police, Sanjay Kumar Jain, and revenue officials rushed to Pentakota.
