NEW DELHI, FEB. 7. The Ministry of Urban Development has sanctioned 17 projects and schemes for the North Eastern region and Sikkim this financial year under the lump sum provision for the North Eastern region. These schemes costing Rs.116.019 crores will be executed by the National Building Construction Corporation Limited or the State Government agencies. An amount of Rs. 78.727 crores has been released out of the total provision of Rs.114 crores for the current financial year.The major schemes cleared by the Ministry include the reconstruction of the Kohima Super Market Complex, Nagaland Rs. 8.85 crores; providing gravity water supply to Tuensang Town, Nagaland Rs. 15.118 crores; the construction of Shopping Complex Block `A' at Thoubal, Manipur Rs. 22.14 crores; the construction of Shopping Complex Block `B' at Thoubal Rs. 12.176 crores; the construction of parking-cum-shopping complex at Balwakhani, Sikkim 14.890 crores; and the construction of Storm Water Drainage Scheme for Jorhat Master Plan Area, Assam Rs.13.674 crores. The other schemes in Nagalandinclude the construction of an Amenity Centre at Chumukedima Gate, Dimapur, Rs. 0.892 crores; the construction of an Amenity Centre at Nagaland Gate, Golaghat Road, Dimapur, Rs 0.687 crores; the construction of the Zunheboto College Academic Building at Zunheboto, Rs. 1.013 crores; the construction of an Indoor Stadium at Kiphire, Rs. 0.955 crores; the construction of Pay and Use Toilets at Kohima Rs. 0.146 crores; and for parks at Kohima Rs. 0.169 crores. The other projects include the construction of an Electric Crematorium at Shillong, Meghalaya Rs. 4.090 crores; the construction of the Nazira Business Centre, Nazira, Assam Rs. 3.011 crores; for water supply at the Jairampur Township, Arunachal Pradesh Rs. 6.271 crores; the improvement of water supply at the Tawang Township, Arunachal Pradesh Rs.8.545 crores; and the upgradation of the road network in the Tawang Township Rs. 3.373 crores.
