PONDICHERRY, FEB. 7. The Pondicherry-based National Community Welfare and Consumer Protection Cell held a campaign on the Beach Road here yesterday to tell consumers how they could help prevent food adulteration and assess the quality of commodities they consumed. The cell president, P. Uthireswaran, spoke of the quality marks that should be statutorily included on product packages and containers. He distributed pamphlets explaining the highlights of the statutory features of consumer protection legislation. The Deputy Controller of Weighs and Measures Department, Dakshinamoorthy, was among those who spoke.
