Library renovated, computerised

NEW DELHI FEB. 7. The Theerar Sathyamurthy Memorial Library run by Delhi Tamil Sangam for many years now has been renovated and its titles computerised for the convenience of readers. The renovated premises was inaugurated by the president of Delhi Tamil Sangam, G. Balachandran, over the week-end.

The Sangam vice-president, G.S. Soundar Rajan, the general secretary, S. Krishnamurthy, and many literary and cultural personalities of the Capital took part in the function.

Workshop on sanitation

NEW DELHI FEB. 7. An international workshop on "Sanitation Technologies'' was held in the Capital this past week as a step to meet the Johannesburg declaration goal of "Sanitation for all by 2015''. The workshop was organised jointly by the Sulabh International Academy of Environmental Sanitation and the Sulabh International Institute of Technical Research and Training in collaboration with the UN Habitat at the Sulabh campus.

About 23 delegates from five African countries participated in the workshop.

Epidemiological evidences suggest that sanitation facilities are as effective in preventing diseases as improved water supply.

Annual Day celebrated

NEW DELHI FEB. 7. Kamal Public School in Vikas Puri celebrated its Annual Day `Badalte Parivesh'' here this past Saturday. The Member of Parliament, Sajjan Kumar, was the chief guest and the area MLA, Mukesh Sharma, presided. Mr. Kumar also released the school magazine "Disha''.

On the occasion, the Manager of the School, R.K. Tondon, presented a cheque for Rs 51,000 to the Deputy Director of Education, Daljeet Kaur, for the relief and rehabilitation of for tsunami victims.
