NEW DELHI, FEB. 7. The President, A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, underwent a "non-invasive" procedure today at the Army Hospital Research and Referral Centre to set right his fractured shoulder. "This morning, under short general anaesthesia, closed reduction of the fracture has been done. The President had uneventful recovery and is cheerful. His condition is fine," the Army Hospital said in a bulletin. The President was examined by a team of orthopaedic surgeons from the Army and civil hospitals. He was admitted to the Army Hospital last evening after he suffered a fracture on his right shoulder in a fall during a walk near the Herbal Garden in the Rashtrapati Bhavan. The Rashtrapati Bhavan spokesperson, S.M. Khan, said the team of doctors would review the President's condition tomorrow The Governors and Lt-Governors who had arrived for the two-day conference at Rashtrapati Bhavan met informally this evening, the spokesman said. The conference, scheduled for February 8 and 9, was postponed, as the President has been advised complete rest by the doctors.
