Fee for transporting liquor

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, FEB.7. A fee has been introduced for transporting liquor from Kerala to Mahe. According to a notification issued today, the fee for permits to be issued by the Excise Commissioner for the purpose was Rs 25,000 each. The fee has been imposed to overcome the loss running into crores of rupees suffered by the State by way of sales tax and excise duty due to the movement of liquor imported by Mahe to Kerala.
