NIZAMABAD, FEB. 7. Madhu Goud Yaskhi, MP, has made a fervent appeal to the Minister of State for Railways, R. Velu, to use his offices to extend the service of the South Central Railway General Manager, T. Stanley Babu, who is to retire by this month-end. Impressed by the interest taken by the General Manager in completing broad gauge conversion work in a record time, Mr. Goud said on Monday but for the hard work and sincerity of Mr. Stanley Babu and his team it would not have been possible. Pointing out that in the last Railway budget injustice was meted out to the State as far as the allocations and sanctioning of new trains were concerned, he called upon the Minister to earmark at least Rs. 80 crores to the Karimnagar-Nizamabad line in the coming budget.
Ahead of schedule
Mr. Stanley Babu said as per the original schedule, the newly-converted broad gauge line should be opened next year. "However, it is over as we have constantly and consistently followed up the work,'' he added. Echoing the view expressed by Mr. Goud, the Minister for Information and Public Relations, Mohd. Ali Shabbir, hoped that the Railway Minister would take a special interest in allocation of more funds for projects in the State in the Railway budget.
