Probe killing from all angles: Congress MP

By Our Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD, FEB. 7. The Congress MP, U. Arun Kumar, has petitioned the Union Minister for Home, Shivraj Patil, to broadbase the Central Bureau of Investigation enquiry into the Paritala Ravindra muder. Addressing a press conference here on Monday, Mr. Arun Kumar said the murder should be probed from all angles and not treated as an isolated incident. The background of Paritala was exposed by a high- power committee headed by former Home Minister, M.V. Mysoora Reddy, in 1998, he added.

Attaching a copy of the report to the letter written to the Union Minister, Mr. Arun Kumar said the report listed the "criminal past'' of the slain TDP MLA. It was also surprising to note that the previous regime had allowed settlement of criminal cases booked against Ravindra through the Lok Adalat.

Naidu targeted

Mr. Arun Kumar said while all murders were reprehensible, the TDP's attempts to politicise the killing had diverted people's attention from the serious issue of faction violence in Rayalaseema. The TDP president, N. C handrababu Naidu, made no efforts during his nine-year tenure as Chief Minister to curb factionism. Nor did he seek any CBI enquiry into the killings.
