Kollam
By Our Staff Reporter
KOLLAM, FEB. 7. The Kaithakuzhi Pourasamithy has protested against the "arbitrary" withdrawal of Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) services in the Adichanallur, Kummallur, Miyannur and Kaithakuzhi areas. In a statement here today, the pourasamithy members said the move was in sharp contrast to the assurances given by the Transport Minister, N. Sakthan. Withdrawal of service has added to the woes of commuters residing along the Ithikara-Oyur belt. The Kollam-Kummallur schedule via Kottiyam and Ithikara, which was in operation for the last twenty years, was withdrawn all of a sudden. The Kollam-Velichikala service had been withdrawn citing silly reasons, the pourasamithy said. Other services withdrawn include those in the Kollam-Kulathupuzha, Thenmala-Varkala and Paripally-Vettikavala routes. These were started after cancelling the permits of private bus operators on the routes. The Thiruvananthapuram-Puthur and Kulapadam- Thiruvananthapuram fast passenger services too have been withdrawn.
