Medical camps planned

TIRUCHI, FEB. 7 . Special medical camps will be organised by the district administration at the level of panchayat unions to diagnose villagers, particularly the aged, for blood pressure, cardiac problems, and cancer, and other old-age related ailments, between February 10 and March 29.

The medical camps, to be organised as per a directive of the State Government, will be conducted with the assistance of medical teams from the K.A.P. Viswanathan Medical College, Health Department, Viswanathan Cancer Care Hospital, and Cauvery Medical Centre, according to a release issued here today by the Collector, V. Pandian.

Those diagnosed to be in need of advanced treatment at the medical camps will be provided medical care at the K.A.P. Viswanathan Government Medical College Hospital, he said, adding that the Government had allotted Rs. 9.38 lakhs, including Rs. 6.3 lakhs for distributing free medicines.

Conduct of medical camps would be conducted at the under-mentioned venues in the respective 14 panchayat unions (dates within bracket): (1) Vayyampatti (Feb. 10) - Government Higher Secondary School, Poolampatti, (2) Anthanallur(Feb. 12) - Government HSS, Tiruchendurai, (3) Manikandam (Feb. 15) - Government HSS, K. Kallikudi, (4) Pullambadi (Feb. 19) - Government HSS, Kallakam, (5) Manachanallur (Feb. 22) - Government HSS, Tiruvellarai, (6) Tiruverumbur (Feb. 26) - Child Jesus High School, Thondamanpatti, (7) Musiri (March 3), Government HSS, Kottathur, (8) Thuraiyur (March 8) - Government HSS, Perumalpalayam, (9) Uppiliapuram (March 12) - Government HSS, T. Murungapatti, (10) Manapparai (March 15) - Kurinji Engineering College, Vengaikurichi, Manapparai, (11) Marungapuri (March 19) - Government HSS, T. Sukkampatti, (12) Lalgudi (March 22) - Government HSS, Poovalur, (13) Thathaiyangarpettai (March 26) - Government HSS, Mettupalayam, and (14) Thottiyam (March 29) - Government HSS, Government HSS, Elurpattinamanpatti.
