HYDERABAD, FEB. 7. The registration of applicants for one-lakh houses to come up in Ranga Reddy district under the `Rajiv Gruhakalpa' scheme will commence from February 10.

Disclosing the details of the scheme at his chambers on Monday, then district Collector, Arvind Kumar, said that under the scheme 50,000 applicants each from Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy districts and belonging to economically weaker section category and an annual income not exceeding Rs. 36,000 would be allotted houses.

The last date for submitting applications is February 25.

26 localities identified

"We have identified 26 localities in Ranga Reddy district for construction of housing complexes and applicants both from Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy districts will be allotted flats in those areas", the Collector said. The applicant could mention five areas of his or her priority for allotment. The flats to be constructed in ground plus three storeys would be of 250 sft in plinth area and cost Rs. 75,000.

The beneficiary would contribute 10 per cent at Rs. 7,500 while a bank loan of Rs. 67,500 without requirement of any mortgaging of property would be sanctioned. The loan would have to be repaid in 20 years with an equated monthly instalment of about Rs. 500.

Explaining the registration process with several modern and hi-tech features to help the genuine beneficiaries, the Collector said the beneficiary along with the spouse could submit their application along with a challan or DD for Rs. 1,000 at any one of the 18 centres along with required documents and give their biometric proof(thumb impressions of both husband and wife in addition to their photographs).

Biometric proof

The biometric proof would prevent duplication of applicants. All the 18 application registration centres are on CDMA network and data would be stored in the central server in the Collectorate. In case the applicant is a divorcee or a widow/widower, she or he could bring eldest son or daughter. Each applicant would be given an identity card with a barcode number after the registration. The allotment would be through lottery if the number of applicants exceeded the number of flats, he said.

Model house

The Ranga Reddy district Collector, L. Premchandra Reddy, said that a model of the proposed houses would be put up inside the Collectorate to enable interested persons to have a look. He said that 1,000 of the proposed houses would be constructed by the Housing Board in the next three to four months.
