This Day That Age
The USSR Prime Minister, Mr. Goergi Malenkov, submitted his resignation to the Supreme Soviet in Moscow on February 8. He indicated that he would be assigned to another post - without specifying what it would be. Mr. Malenkov said his decision was due to his personal responsibility for the shortcomings of the Cabinet's work, particularly in the field of agricultural policy. He said his responsibility was due chiefly to his lack of experience. Mr. Malenkov, who is 53, became the Prime Minister in March 1953, following the death of Stalin. In the previous few years, he had been generally regarded as Stalin's right-hand man.
