Talk to naxalites, Poojary urges Govt.

By Our Special Correspondent

SHIMOGA, FEB. 8. B. Janardhana Poojary, Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee President, said here on Tuesday that the Chief Minister, N. Dharam Singh, should invite naxalites for talks. "Naxalites too are our own people. Try to solve their problem by inviting them for talks," he urged the Chief Minister.

Mr. Poojary told presspersons that there is nothing wrong in inviting naxalites for talks. The previous Government had announced a special package to check the naxalite activities in the Malnad region. He urged the Government to solve the naxal problems by implementing this package.

He appreciated the stand of the Government that it is prepared to hold talks with naxalites only if they give up violence.

He said the Government need not to yield to pressure in the matter.

Mr. Poojary said there will be no change in the leadership of the Shimoga District Congress Committee till the panchayat elections are over.
