GUNTUR, FEB. 8. The Communist Party of India (Maoist) naxalites today killed three surrendered naxalites, branding them police informers, in Guntur district. A 14-year-old girl was seriously injured in the second incident. The two incidents on a single day have sent shock waves in the Palnadu region. The police are taking extra precaution in providing security to the installations and people's representatives. Some 20 Maoists dragged out 60-year-old Mekala Venkateswara Reddy, a naxalite sympathiser, from his house in Miriyala village of Karempudi mandal and shot him dead. The Maoists then woke up Battala Peda Saidulu, 30, also a former naxalite, and took him to the fields and shot him. Saidulu had surrendered before the then Superintendent of Police, Ravi Shankar Ayyannar, in 2003. The CPI Maoist Platoon Commander, Suresh, in a note left at the site said that the Maoists had punished both of them because they had been giving information to the police leading to strategic loss to the party.
