CHITRADURGA, FEB. 8. The Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) has ruled out any possibility of joining hands with the other parties in Karnataka in the forthcoming gram panchayat elections, the general secretary of the State unit of the party, M. Jayanna, said. He was speaking to presspersons here on Tuesday. Mr. Jayanna said that efforts are being made to field candidates backed by the party in all the constituencies in the State. "This time, in stead of rushing to the elections directly, the party is organising training camps, forming booth level committees, and holding seminars. We are planning to reach out to at least five lakh people through such activities," he said. The BSP had ensured the defeat of other parties in hundreds of constituencies, which was the reason behind fractured verdicts in the State and at the centre, he claimed. Mr. Jayanna came down heavily on the coalition Government for its misrule in the State and alleged that corruption has reached its peak. He also charged the State Government of sacrificing the interests of the Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, backward classes, religious minorities, labourers, farmers and women. He blamed the opposition parties, the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Janata Dal (United), for not highlighting the limitations of the Government.
