The 21-metre boiler drum being sent to Bellary Thermal Power Station in a special train.
BANGALORE, FEB. 8. A consignment is now on its way to the 500-mega watt, first stage of the Bellary Thermal Power Station (BTPS) under-construction. The consignment has been sent with an escort in a special train. The consignment is a 215-metric tonne, 21-metre boiler drum for the power plant. According to a press release from the Karnataka Power Corporation Ltd. (KPCL), the train chugged off from the Trichy unit of Bharat Heavy Electricals (BHEL) on Monday.
The managing director of KPCL, L.V. Nagarajan, the director (Technical), S.M. Zafrulla, and the executive director, BHEL, A.K. Mathur, were present. The drum will reach the power station in a week's time, the release said. The plant located in Kuditini village of Bellary district is to add 3,504 million units of energy annually to the State grid in its first stage, which will be completed by December 2006. The main plant works for the project on an engineering, procurement, and construction basis will be supplied by BHEL, the release added.
