HASSAN, FEB. 8. The Minister for Information, B. Shivaram, on Tuesday said that he will be taking a delegation of coffee growers to New Delhi on Wednesday to urge the Union Minister for Finance, P. Chidambaram, and the Minister for Commerce, Kamal Nath, to solve the problems faced by them in the Malnad districts of Chikmagalur, Hassan, and Kodagu. He said that the former Speaker, B.L. Shankar, the former Minister, Motamma, the leaders of Karnataka Growers' Federation, including its president, Attikatte Jagannath, will accompany him to New Delhi. He had discussed the problems faced by the coffee growers with them, he said. He also said that the coffee growers' problems can be addressed by the State Government.
Ramiah committee report
Mr. Shivaram said that the recommendations of P. Ramiah committee report to improve the condition of rural journalists will be implemented as soon as possible. The inter-district tours of journalists, which was discontinued, will be reintroduced, he added.
