By Our Special Correspondent

VISAKHAPATNAM, FEB. 8. The body of Pragada Durga Devi (18), youngest of the five sisters who had committed suicide by jumping into the sea near Pentakota near Payakaraopeta on Sunday midnight, washed ashore on Tuesday, according to Payakaraopeta police.

It may be recalled that the five daughters of Appa Rao, an agriculturalist, allegedly committed suicide by jumping into the sea unable to bear the death of their father, while their maternal aunt, Uppalapati Narayanamma, who was living with the family, hanged herself in the house. The bodies of four elder sisters were recovered on Monday morning. The SP, Sanjay Kumar Jain, handed over Rs. 5,000, granted by the Collector, Praveen Prakash, under the National Family Welfare Scheme to the surviving members of the family. The Collector also assured the family of Rs. 50,000 under Aapatbandhu scheme.
