Protest against new excise policy

By Our Special Correspondent

TIRUPATI, FEB. 8. The CPI(M) on Tuesday fired yet another salvo at its poll partner, the Congress for its controversial GO which would open the floodgate for the proliferation of bars even in rural areas.

The CPI(M) trade union-arm, CITU, organised demonstrations at Vedanthapuram Agraharam near here lashing out at the YSR Government on its liquor policy and demanded the immediate withdrawal of the GO lest the party should hit the road once again for an anti-arrack campaign. The agitators also burnt an effigy on the occasion.
