RAJAMPET (CUDDAPAH DT.), FEB. 8. The Speaker of the Legislative Assembly, K.R. Suresh Reddy, on Tuesday disbursed a cheque for Rs. 2.06 crores to women of Kudumalur village in Vontimitta mandal, towards compensation for the submersible village under Somasila reservoir. He gave away the cheque after inaugurating the Roads and Buildings Executive Engineer's office at Rajampet. The Rajampet MLA, K. Prabhavathamma, said the Government released Rs. 55 crores so far towards payment of compensation to Somasila submersible villages. It was striving to settle cases locked in court cases, she added. Earlier, the Speaker participated as chief guest in the Brahmotsavams at Sri Lakshmi Venkateswara Swamy temple at Devunicuddapah. The temple priests received him with `poornakumbham' and explained the temple's importance. The temple chairman, G. Krishna Reddy, felicitated him by presenting silk clothes. The Speaker was garlanded by a temple elephant. Mr. Suresh Reddy also offered prayers at Sri Kodanda Rama Swamy temple at Vontimitta, where he was received with temple honours. The Assistant Commissioner of Endowments, G.C. Jogishwar Reddy, felicitated the Speaker.
