AVMPC (Poondi) wins

SIVAKASI, FEB. 8. AVM Pushpam College, Poondi, won the overall championship with 69 points in the eighth Tamil Nadu State B.Sc Physical Education inter-collegiate athletic meet here on Monday. MDT Hindu College, Tirunelveli, finished runner-up with 43 points.

Ayya Nadar Janaki Ammal College claimed the games championship with a tally 55 points and MDT Hindu College finished runner-up with 45 points.

The results: Athletics (all winners): Men: 100m: Rajalingam (AVMPC) 11.52s; 1,500m: S. Chandran (ANJAC) 4:31.40s; 110m hurdles: S. Bharathiraja (ANJAC) 15.56s; 400m hurdles: S. Bharathiraja 59.4s; High jump: E. Reghunesh (Scott Christian, Nagercoil) 1.07m; Pole vault: V. Pandian (ANJAC) 3.15m; Javelin: S. Venkataraman (AVMPC) 45.15m; Discus: K. Sundara Pandian (AVMPC) 30.98m; 4x100m relay: AVMP College, Poondi, 44.62s.

Women: 100m: S. Thirumala Jeyalakshmi (Avinasilingam Deemed University, Coimbatore) 13s; 200m: R. Rajeswari (ADU) 25.69s; 100m hurdles: S. Thirumala Jeyalakshmi (ADU) 20.29s; Discus: P. Radha (ADU) 23.07m; 4x100m relay: Avinasilingam Deemed University, Coimbatore 55.01s.

Games (all finals): Men: Hockey: ANJA College bt MDT Hindu College 1-0; Handball: ANJA College bt MDT Hindu College 25-8; Volleyball: ANJA College bt AVMSP College 25-18, 25-20, 25-21; Tennis: ANJA College bt AVMP College, Poondi 3-0.
