Dravid, Kaif guide India `A' home

By Our Special Correspondent

MUMBAI, FEB. 8. India `A' did not find India Seniors' total of 281 in the Challenger Trophy a tall order on Monday as the partnership between skipper Rahul Dravid and Mohammad Kaif sustained a task successfully started by openers Dhiraj Jadhav and Satyajit Parab.

There were mighty heaves and copybook shots from Dravid and Kaif played as well as he could by hitting some robust shots. As the lights became brighter after nightfall, it became clear that as long as Dravid and Kaif flourished, Yuvraj Singh's individual effort would not be a match-winning one for India seniors.

The scores:

India Seniors: (for nine wkts. in 50 overs) 280.

India `A': D. Jadhav c Dhawan b Pawar 79, S. Parab lbw b Pawar 36, D. Mongia c Rao b Kumble 51, R. Dravid (not out) 45, A. Agarkar st. Dhoni b Kumble 5, M. Kaif (not out) 49, Extras (lb-7, nb-6, w-8) 21, Total (for four wkts. in 49.4 overs) 286

Fall of wickets: 1-70, 2-169, 3-196,4-203

India Seniors bowling: Balaji 10-0-64-0, Gagandeep 9.4-2-57-0, Kumble 10-0-57-2, Pawar 10-0-55-2, Rao 5-0-23-0, Ganguly 5-0-23-0.
