MUMBAI, FEB. 8 Mumbai youngster Chaitanya Vaidya stunned IM and overnight leader Rahul Shetty in the penultimate round of Citizen International Rating chess tournament at Matunga Gymkhana on Tuesday. Ramkrishna Kashelkar now leads with 7.5 points and requires a draw in the final round to clinch the title. Chaitanya is second with 7.0 points, along with Rahul Shetty and G. Balaji. Opting for Queen's Indian defence against Chaitanya, IM Shetty appeared in control of the middle game when the former complicated the board position. Shetty overstepped time limit and in that state of mind, went on to lose the game. Kashelkar forced Aditya Udeshi to resign in 52 moves. Mumbai's Rohan Rao completed his FIDE rating requirement in one tournament, playing nine FIDE-rated players consecutively and scoring five points.
