Andhra Pradesh defeated Jharkhand in the first round of the boys' in the 31st National junior volleyball championship at Rajampet on Tuesday. Bengal boys beat Manipur in another closely fought match.
In the girls' matches today, Bengal comfortably beat Pondicherry while Uttar Pradesh defeated Mizoram.
The results: Boys: Andhra Pradesh bt Jharkhand 25-18, 25-13, 25-17; Bengal bt Manipur 25-23, 25-21, 25-20.
