CHENNAI, FEB. 8. The Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam president, M. Karunanidhi, today denied that he made derogatory remarks against the AIADMK leader, Jayalalithaa, on the floor of the Assembly when he was Chief Minister. Referring to the Law Minister, D. Jayakumar's remark that the DMK leader shouted like a coward when he was arrested, Mr. Karunanidhi said that it was his grandson Anbu alias Dayanidhi who cried on seeing him writhing in pain. Even if he [Karunanidhi] cried in pain what was there for ridicule, he asked. People knew that he suffered bruises in the arms when the police roughed him up. Answering a set of questions here today, Mr. Karunanidhi said the Chief Minister's defence of the Special Investigation Team, Superintendent of Police, placing the charge sheet in the Sankararaman murder case at the feet of Lord Varadaraja Perumal at Kancheepuram before filing it in court, was against the Dravidian principle enunciated by the E.V. Ramasamy and C.N. Annadurai.
Tsunami panel
The DMK leader criticised the Chief Minister for not including the MLA and the Nagapattinam Municipal Chairman, belonging to his party, in the tsunami relief committee.
