LUCKNOW, FEB. 8 .The Uttar Pradesh Irrigation Minister, Munna Singh Chauhan, today directed all the legislators to provide report to him about the flood safety arrangements and water drainage works in their respective areas by February 28. He also directed the officials concerned to enlist all the works of priority and sensitivity so that they could be completed before the rains. Meanwhile, State Principal Secretary (Irrigation) Amal Kumar Verma issued a Government order directing all the civil and technical principal engineers not to impose irrigation charge on the farmers whose fields had not been irrigated under the canal system. It has also been directed to be cautious while deciding the irrigation costs and the irrigation charge should only be levied on the fields which have actually been irrigated. UNI
