FAIZABAD (UP), FEB. 8. The Uttar Pradesh Transport Department has earned a profit of Rs 70 crore this fiscal and will soon have a new transport policy with emphasis on increasing the income of the transport department, State Transport Minister Naresh Agarwal has said. He said there was a proposal to appoint commission agents at the RTO offices in the State and a Transport Authority may be constituted for better working under the new policy, Mr Agarwal told reporters here last night. He said the department had earned a profit of Rs 70 crores this fiscal and added that 1000 new buses would be added to the fleet. All the blocks in the State would be connected with tehsils and district headquarters soon, he said. He said public amenities in all bus stations would also be improved. PTI
