BJP demonstration on Goa issue

By Our Staff Correspondent

BHOPAL, FEB. 8. The president of the Madhya Pradesh unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party, Kailash Joshi, today led a demonstration at the busy Roshanpura Square here to protest against the dismissal of the Parikkar Government in Goa.

The party also organised similar protest demonstrations at district headquarters today. The BJP is demanding "removal of the Governor of Goa as a step towards protecting democracy". Along with local BJP leaders, two former Union Ministers, Sunderlal Patwa and Vikram Verma, were prominent among those who joined the demonstration in Bhopal.

Addressing the protest rally, the State unit BJP chief said what had happened in Goa was a precursor to what could follow in other BJP-ruled States like Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh.

The Goa Governor, S.C. Jamir came under attack as his decision to sack the Parikkar Government was described by the BJP leaders here as "murder of democracy".
