Human Integration meet held

NEW DELHI FEB. 8. About 300 delegates from 43 countries and hundreds of people from across India attended the three-day 14th International Conference on Human Integration which concluded at Sant Darshan Singh Dham here on Monday. The President of World Council of Religions, Sant Rajinder Singhji Maharaj -- who inaugurated the Conference -- said: "God is not only for one religion or one sect but for each and every human being. God is divine love and the soul in each and every being is a drop of this love. The realisation of this truth is not restricted to only saints, seers and munis -- whose souls are awakened -- but is there for each and every one."

Testing centre opened

NEW DELHI FEB. 8. The National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) today started a two-day On-Demand Examination Testing Centre at the secondary level in the Capital.

The opening of the testing centre will provide another dimension to the openness and flexibility of the open schooling and this will make the total system of examination independent of the time frame and will help the students to take the examinations as per their wish and preparation.

Under the system of On-Demand Examination, a set of question paper having a defined number of items is generated randomly by the computer out of the already developed question bank on the basis of the question paper design and the blue print of the subject as and when demanded.

Sports championship awarded

NEW DELHI FEB. 8. The students of St. Mark's Senior Secondary Public School, Meera Bagh, won the coveted over all championship of games in the girls' category at Paschim Vihar here recently. The students won the trophy in table tennis not only in the junior and sub-junior girls categories, but also in the senior boys categories. While in badminton junior girls won the trophy, the sub junior boys won the same in football.

Seminar on Turkish Studies

NEW DELHI FEB. 8. The Indian Council of Historical Research (ICHR) is organising a three-day seminar on "Turkish and Indian Studies: An Appraisal" in the Capital from February 9. According to an ICHR release, the Union Human Resource Development Minister, Arjun Singh, will inaugurate the session at the Constitution Club here in which both Indian and Turkish scholars would come together to deliberate on interaction between the two countries in the historical and present context. Five Turkish scholars namely Yusuf Halcoglu, Mercil, Salim Cohce, Asmi Ozcan and Mehmet Akif Aydin and 35 Indian scholars from across the country would be participating and presenting their research papers at the seminar.
