THRISSUR, FEB. 8. The City Corporation has initiated measures to check the outbreak of jaundice in the slums adjacent to the railway tracks. A team of Corporation health officials visited 150 huts this evening. An awareness programme on jaundice would be held later this week in the slums, said M. Usman, Health Standing Committee chairman. A 23-year-old woman from the slums, Jiji, suffering from suspected jaundice, was being treated at Cooperative Hospital here. Homoeopathic medicines were being administered to four children, who were diagnosed with jaundice. Their condition has improved, Dr. Usman said. A drive to clean the drain near the railway tracks will be launched on Wednesday.
