Students of BEM Higher Primary School at Car Street in Mangalore staging a protest on Tuesday against the alleged negligence of the management in preventing the outbreak of jaundice on the campus.
MANGALORE, FEB. 8. Several students of the BEM Higher Primary School and their parents on Tuesday staged a dharna in front of the school at Car Street in protest against the outbreak of jaundice in the school. Trouble started in the morning when some parents went to enquire with the school management about reasons for over 100 students of the school contracting jaundice in the last one year. The parents were angry about the reports of supply of contaminated drinking water in the school. The parents alleged that the tanks in which the school stores water have not been cleaned for many months. But the school management was not in a position to give a correct picture. The management said it is looking into the reasons for the outbreak of jaundice and will take steps to prevent this. The school management has called a meeting of parents on Friday.
