`Form higher education corporation'

By Our Special Correspondent

CHENNAI, FEB. 8. The State Government should constitute a higher education development corporation to provide soft loans and grants to economically backward students, the Pattali Makkal Katchi founder, S. Ramadoss, said today.

In a statement, Dr. Ramadoss said the State Government could not absolve itself by blaming the Supreme Court for not bringing professional education within the reach of the poor and the lower middle class.

As private colleges were largely providing higher education, particularly professional courses, the student community paid "exorbitantly high" admission fee and donation. The State Government should accept blame for not establishing more colleges.
