Paritala case: CBI questions doctor Paritala case: CBI questions doctor

By Our Staff Reporter

ANANTAPUR, FEB. 8. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), which is probing the Paritala Ravindra murder case, on Tuesday questioned the doctor, Prabhakar Rao, who had performed the post mortem on the body of Ravindra on January 24.

A CBI team, led by the Superintendent of Police, Bose, and the DSP, Vijaykumar, had a detailed interaction with the General Hospital doctor. Their questioning was learnt to have centred round technical details like the impact of a bullet on the body when it pierces through the body, the width of the hole created when it pierces inside among others.

However, aspects like whether the post mortem was conducted thoroughly or hurried through, how many bullets were shot on Ravindra's body and how many of them were removed during the post mortem were stated to have not been raised by the CBI sleuths. They questioned the Government Medical College professor for about 90 minutes.

The CBI team also took away a copy of the post-mortem report from the doctor concerned.

The doctor submitted the post mortem report to the district police today. When the CBI sleuths were confronted by waiting newsmen outside the doctor's room with the question whether they had asked for a re-post mortem on the body, Mr. Bose flashed a smile and looked towards Mr. Vijaykumar. In turn, Mr. Vijaykumar, before leaving the hospital, asked the newsmen: "Did we say it?"

Custody sought

On the other hand, arguments on the petition moved by the CBI seeking custody of the six surrendered persons in the case for further interrogation were heard in the Additional Judicial First Class Magistrate Court here. Two of the alleged shooters-- P. Narayana Reddy and V. Rekhamaiah-- the three bombers-- V. Konda, V. Seena and V. Ranganayakulu-- and the key facilitator, M. Obi Reddy, are in judicial custody.
