THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, FEB. 8. The City Corporation is undertaking malaria prevention activities on a war-footing at Valiathura, Shanghumughom and Vallakkadavu, from where the disease had been reported, the Mayor, J. Chandra, said. Sanitation activities and vector control activities such as spraying, fogging and disinfection of wells has been intensified. Corporation's health workers and voluntary health activists were carrying on awareness programmes from house to house, under the leadership of respective ward councillors. A 24-hour Malaria Prevention Cell (Phone no. 2473832) has been opened at Corporation's Fort garage since February 6. Those with fever or other symptoms of malaria should immediately seek treatment at the primary health centres or hospitals, the Mayor said.
