THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, FEB. 8. Two specialist doctors in spine surgery, V. S. Mehta, the head of Neuro Surgery, All India Institute of Medical Sciences and B.A. Chandramouli, Professor of Neuro Surgery, National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro Sciences, will arrive here on Wednesday to examine the Local Self-Government Minister, Kutty Ahmedkutty, who is still in a critical state at the medical intensive care unit (MICU) at the Medical College hospital. The decision to seek a second opinion of specialists from outside was taken in consultation with the Minister's family, sources at the MCH said. Mr. Ahmedkutty had been admitted to the MCH with multiple fractures, including broken ribs and vertebra, after he was injured in a car accident near Chavara, Kollam in the early hours on Monday. The Minister, though in severe trauma, is conscious and his condition remains stable. His cardio-vascular condition was stable, and hypertension and diabetes well under control, doctors at the MCH said. Mr. Ahmedkutty underwent an MRI scan at the Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute of Medical Sciences today and the scan has revealed certain injuries to the spine. There was also the indication that apart from the second vertebra, more vertebrae had suffered damage. There is no injury to the brain, spinal cord or the abdomen, MCH sources said. Visitors to the MICU would be restricted to rule out chances of infection, a medical bulletin issued by the MCH Superintendent, N. Viswanathan, said
