VISAKHAPATNAM, FEB. 8. A local Telugu Desam Party leader has demanded that the dispute over a land at Venkateswara Metta in ward 12 be resolved and the ban imposed on the sale of properties there be lifted. The TDP urban district commercial wing executive member, Chakravarthi Valluri, told reporters on Tuesday that 5,000 persons had been living there for decades and paying taxes to the municipality. "They have registered documents for the properties. However, the Endowments Department has staked claim to the land, and imposed a ban on sale.'' Dr. Chakravarthy said that due to the ban, residents had been facing problems in performing weddings and meeting financial commitments. "The TDP supremo, N. Chandrababu Naidu, had assured me that he would take up the issue with the Endowments Minister," he added.
