NEW DELHI,
FEB 8
. In a case which highlighted the lack of safety of housewives in the city, four persons were today sentenced to life imprisonment by a Delhi court for murdering a woman while she was alone in her residence and later robbing cash and jewellery from there four years ago.
Additional Sessions Judge O.P. Saini also imposed a fine of Rs 2,000 each on convicts Shanker, Sita, Shyamraj Singh and Bhairo after finding them guilty of murder and dacoity.
On December 12, 2000, Gursharan Kaur (40) was alone at her Mansarovar Garden residence as her husband and elder son had gone to work while another son and a daughter had left for school. Noticing her alone, the accused forcibly entered the house and murdered Kaur as she resisted their efforts to rob.
