President urged to remove Jamir from Governor's post

BELLARY, FEB. 9. Members of the district unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) staged a demonstration here on Tuesday demanding the removal of the Governor of Goa, S.C. Jamir, from the post for dismissing the Manohar Parrikar Government.

In a memorandum to the President, A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, submitted through the Deputy Commissioner, the president of the district unit, Janardhan Reddy, said that the dismissal of the Government after it won the vote of confidence was a "murder of democracy."

Condemning the Governor's action, Mr. Reddy urged the President to restore the BJP Government, led by Mr. Parrikar, to uphold democratic values.G. Karunakar Reddy, MP, Ramalingappa, Thimmareddy, S.J.V. Mahipal, were among other leaders to participate in the demonstration.
