CHENNAI, FEB. 9. The results of the entrance examinations for B.Ed conducted by Tamil Nadu Open University (TNOU) last month were released here yesterday. The Vice-Chancellor, M.S. Palanichamy, said the results were released on three web sites www.chennaionline.com; www.southindia.com; and www.webulagam.com. In all, 30,933 candidates appeared for the examination held at 46 centres. The TNOU introduced B.Ed through distance education (mainly targeting teachers already working in schools) this year. A. Devaraj of Annur in Coimbatore district has secured the first rank with 87.50 marks. S. Anita (Pudur, Madurai) stands second with 86.50 marks and S Sakthivel Pandi, Tisaiyanvilai, Tirunelveli district third with 84.25 marks. Dr. Palanichamy said that based on marks, the merit list would be prepared following the Government's reservation policy. Call letters for counselling would be sent to candidates by registered post. Candidates not called for counselling would get their marksheets by post. As several candidates secured the same marks, they were directed to fill an enclosed form to prepare an inter se merit list among those called for counselling. They should return the filled in forms by February 18. Counselling would be held at the Stella Matutina College of Education, Ashok Nagar, Chennai 600 083 (Phone 2489 4262). The candidates should produce all original certificates and a demand draft for the programme fee. Provisionally selected candidates could choose the programme study centre as per the merit list. Counselling would be held on February 23 and 24 for different reservation categories. Candidates wishing to apply for revaluation should send applications, mentioning their register number and marks obtained, and the examination centre, along with a DD for Rs. 500 drawn in favour of the university payable in Chennai. The applications should be sent by Speed Post to reach the Controller of Examinations, TNOU, Directorate of Technical Education campus, Guindy, Chennai 600 025 on or before February 18.
