The Czech-made pistol recovered by the anti-rowdy squad in Mangalore on Wednesday.
MANGALORE, FEB. 9. The anti-rowdy squad of the police here on Wednesday arrested a man from Vittla, said to be a member of the Chhota Rajan gang, and recovered from him a loaded pistol of Czech make. The name of the arrested person was given as Vicky, alias Vikram, alias Balakrishna Shetty, alias Raju (26). The accused was in Mumbai for some time, according to a press release. Vicky, who was wanted by Mumbai police, was said to be hiding in Mangalore. The Superintendent of Police, Soumendhu Mukherjee, who got a tip-off, asked the squad to look for him in the city. The squad spotted a car on Bunts Hostel Road and stopped the vehicle at Karangalpady. The person driving the vehicle reportedly identified himself as Balakrishna Shetty, resident of Vittla. On questioning, he reportedly told the police that he was Vicky and was living in an apartment complex at Bejai. The police recovered from him an unlicensed loaded pistol. The police immediately took him into custody and seized the car he was driving.
