Clear sky forecast

A mainly clear sky has been forecast for Thursday. Fog is likely during morning hours. The minimum temperature will be around 17 degree Celsius.

The maximum temperature was 29.9 degree C and the minimum 19.5 deg. C at Waltair on Wednesday. Humidity at 8.30 a.m. was 83 per cent and at 5.30 p.m. 68 per cent.

At Airport, the maximum and minimum temperatures were 30.3 deg. C and 17.6 deg. C respectively. Humidity at 8.30 a.m. was 85 per cent and at 5.30 p.m. 46 per cent.

The maximum temperature at the Dolphin's Nose was 29.9 deg. C and the minimum was 19.7 deg. C. Humidity at 8.30 a.m. was 91 per cent.

People's ballot

The People for India organisation is conducting a people's ballot from Thursday to elicit public opinion on how to put the old Central Prison premises to better use.

The first venue of the ballot is RTC Complex premises (near the entrance to the SBI Zonal Office).

MMS contest

Hutch Cellular Service will launch a multi-messaging service (MMS) contest, "Hutch Face Off'', on Saturday and Sunday at Spencer's Plaza, and on Monday at Gitam College to celebrate the spirit of the Valentine's Day. Details can be had by dialling 98850-18053/98855-61640.

Dalit leaders' plea

The Ukku Dalita Aikya Vedika has submitted a memorandum to the Andhra Pradesh Legislature Committee on Welfare of Scheduled Castes decrying what it called the "indifference of the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant management'' towards the problems of SC and ST employees.

They further alleged that the rule of reservation was not being properly implemented in the promotion of employees.

NCC exam

The NCC `B' Certificate written examination will be conducted at Gitam College on Sunday. Eligible cadets of all units in Visakhapatnam can take the examination, according to D.K. Singh Deo, Commanding Officer of NCC 2(A) Compo Technical Regiment.
