Letters to the Editor
Sir, This refers to the thought-provoking editorial "Short-changing tsunami victims" (Feb. 10). Any assistance to any part of the country should be routed through the State Government concerned. More so in the case of tsunami victims, who have suffered incalculable losses. When the victims have nothing to fall back upon, where is the question of giving any relief in the form of a loan?
C. Shankar,
Sir, Now that the temporary phase of rehabilitation is over, it is important to sustain it in the long term. Fishermen are right in saying they are just not in a position to raise loans. The devastation is such that providing entirely for their livelihood is the only solution the Centre can offer.
Bal Govind,
