Self-financing colleges

Sir, — This refers to the observation that self-financing colleges are to blame for the state of unemployment among students with professional qualifications (Letters, Feb. 8). Let us not undermine the fact that several professionals churned out of self-financing professional colleges are very well placed. Getting an opportunity and making use of it are not always synonymous. It may also be worthwhile to find out how many of the professionals who have applied for the post of constables in Maharashtra are products of self-financing colleges.
